In 2021, within the scope of the transition between programming periods, the application for support for agro-environmental measures from the government of Portugal will be opened.
Agri-environmental measures play a fundamental role for the sustainable development of rural areas, encouraging farmers and other land managers to serve society through the introduction or maintenance of agricultural practices that contribute to the mitigation and adaptation to climate change, compatible with protection and improving the environment, landscape, natural resources, soils and biodiversity.
This support aims to compensate farmers for the additional costs and loss of income resulting from the commitments made, covering only those commitments that exceed the applicable mandatory requirements and standards.
